The empanadas are wonderful with just the right amount of flakiness. The outer shell is not too thick, and not too thin. The beef is is flavorful and balances well with the cheese. The empanadas are also accompanied by an herb and olive oil sauce which has a rich cilantro flavor; when coupled with the sauce, a whole new range of flavors are brought out. Many times, I find empanadas overly greasy but this was not the case at Tango Baires.
If potato salad is on the menu, I'll usually order it. The potato salad at Tango Baires is more on the refreshing and sweet side, which I like because I'm not a fan of potato salads with a heavy pickled taste. The peas and carry add the right amount of sweetness.
The Lomitos Cordobes is a tender beef sandwich served with lettuce, tomatoes, ham, eggs, and their special sauce. I've returned to Tango Baires because of this sandwich. All the flavors of the sandwich come together nicely, especially the beef and egg. Pour on some of the special sauce for a little tang and kick.
If you live or happen to be in the area, I encourage you to drop by for a tasty bite. I have only tried their sandwiches but they offer a variety of pizzas, meat platters, pastas, and other Argentinean delights.
